Rare Mens OMEGA Swiss Antique Wristwatch REGULATEUR Picture(s) and Description:

Rare Mens OMEGA Swiss Antique Wristwatch REGULATEUR I would like to catch your attention with this amazingly beautiful renowned Swiss watch brand OMEGA. This exquisite watch got a second life after a neat and unusual restoration. Short history of the watch company OMEGA SA:(information from the website www.wikipedia.org): Omega (?) is the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet, which literally means “great”. This quality has characterized the company since its founding by 23-year-old Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in 1848. The young watchmaker assembled key-wound pocket watches by hand. His sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, who headed the company after his death in 1879, used more advanced technologies. The brothers moved to a factory in Biel, started in-house manufacturing of watches and implemented a production control system. Their first watches with series-produced calibres, Gurzelen and Louis Brandt & Frère, as well as the first minute-repeater wristwatch in the world Louis Brandt, manufactured in 1894, ensured the success of the company. After the death of both brothers in 1903, the biggest industrial company in Swiss horology with and annual production 240,000 watches was left to four young people. The oldest of them, Paul-Emile Brandt, who later became the head of the watchmaking house, was only 23-year old. In 1909, OMEGA made its debut in sports during the international balloon races, in particular the Gordon Bennett Cup. In after years, OMEGA was chosen as official timekeeper at 21 Olympic Games. The company supplied watches both for British Royal Airforce and the US Army. In 1957, the watchmaking house created the Omega Speedmaster. This watch soon became legendary, as it was chosen by NASA as its official chronometer in 1965. Four years later, the Omega Speedmaster was the first watch to be worn on the moon. Due to the performance of this watch with a chronograph measuring accurately down to 1/5th of a second, OMEGA was given \"Snoopy Award\", the NASA highest award given to individuals or companies that make a valuable contribution to the success of manned space flight. The award-winning Omega Speedmaster also became the watch of choice of the Russian Space Agency and their astronauts. But the company did not rest on the laurels - in 1974, Omega introduced Marine Chronometer 2400, the world’s most accurate and technologically advanced watch. This legendary timepiece had a daily timing variation of just two thousands of a second. In 1999, Omega made one of the most significant horological advances and launched the first mass-produced watch with the revolutionary co-axial escapement. Making part of Swatch Group together with Blancpain and Breguet, Omega remains one of the most prestigious brands. Cosmetic condition is ideal (please look foto). And a final reminder for owner antique watch: All Antique watches are mechanical. Many repairs will not be cheap, as most likely they will require replacement of non-standard parts (unlike most late model watches). - Antique watches should not be beaten or dropped - because repairs may be expensive. - Antique watches are generally NOT waterproof. This is because waterproofing was not in general production until the middle of the 20th century for most watches. Therefore you should protect your antique watch from exposure to moisture. - If your watch becomes wet it should be dried off quickly. Carefully open all covers and use a hair drier to blow dry the movement, dial, covers, crown. This will reduce the amount of rust. - If your watch becomes wet with any kind of salt water you should immediately immerse or spray your watch with fresh (no-salt) water to remove all the salt from the works before drying the watch completely. Any salt left in the watch will combine with moisture in the air to rust metal components of the movement, case etc. - Winding any mechanical watch tight may break the mainspring. If you can avoid it do not wind the watch hard. - When adjusting the hands of your watch, move them in a clockwise direction only. Counter-clockwise adjustments may damage the movement. - If you must adjust counter-clockwise make it for small adjustments only (i.e. for minutes, NOT hours). - Be careful and gentle when adjusting the movement speed (faster or slower). Don't make sharp movements, and don't touch other components in the movement especially the pendulum mechanism. - Every 2-3 years it is necessary to service and oil vintage watches. - If the watch is dirty - allow the watch to run down, don't wind it again until you have it serviced by a qualified watch repair expert. Dust will absorb and remove important lubricants and cause the movement pieces to wear down. - To clean the case, dial and crystal you should use a cloth that does NOT leave fibers as these may get caught up in the movement. Check with your Watch repair expert to get an appropriate cloth. - Keep your antiques watch away from magnets. Strong magnetic fields may affect the accuracy of your watch since some vintage watches were made with iron based components in the movement. - Most Cases and Covers are fine components and will not handle abuse well. The watch should not be shaken, beaten, or stressed. - Antique watches generally experience an error of up to 5-10 minutes a day. Any accuracy of +- 5 minutes is very good.
